Welcome to the Basement... and welcome to This Week With The Superheroes..

Even with two-fewer shows to watch this week due to Flash and Arrow being on Hiatus for the next couple of weeks, there is a lot to go over...

First up... let me give my thoughts on the trailer for the 'Ghostbusters in Name Only' Film... we learned it's ripping off the epic Ghostbusters video game from a few years ago (the using a device to increase paranormal activity was a central theme to the game), ripping off the 'Gray Lady' / Ghost in the Library bit from the first film, the overall film of it is like a piss-poor fan film that grossly miss uses the Intellectual Property... I'll probably still end up seeing it just because I have the Basement Matinee series for movie discussions.

Anyway... let's do THE NEWS

Morgan Freeman gave his thoughts regarding Ben Affleck's turn as Batman: "You know, I'm happy for Ben [Affleck], but I don't know how that's gonna work. Because the 'Dark Knight' was almost 'it.' Pretty much 'it, "Did you see 'Batman Begins?' I don't think you can beat that."

Well... it's nice for Mr. Freeman to freely admit he has gone senile. Let me be frank here... I'm not a fan of the Nolan trilogy, I thnk other than inspiring a parody for Vivid to produce, nothing positive has result from it, I think all three of those films were over-blown, over-hyped, way too long and had their proverbial heads shoved up their anal cavities, and Christian Bale's performance was terrible and reminder of how superior Michael Keaton was in the role. And I'm very confident that Ben Affleck will put on a quality performance.

But for the record, the best Batman is Kevin Conroy.

Despite the success of Fox's Deadpool as a Rated R-Film, Disney CEO Bob Iger says that they don't have any plans to make R-Rated Marvel movies. No shock there, you'd be hard press to find something by Disney that ever had a R-Rating.

Lionsgate has just released a new synopsis for their upcoming Power Rangers movie. Saban's Power Rangers follows five ordinary high school kids who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove - and the world - is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threats. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover that they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so they will have to overcome their real-life issues and band together as the Power Rangers before it is too late

On one hand, that sounds like the first couple of episodes of every season of Power Rangers since Lost Galaxy... on the other hand... it sound like every single bland 'team' movie that Hollywood has produced since 2000. But you know what's a shame... more effort is being put into this film than was the 20th anniversary of the show (the awful Megaforce / SuperMega Force years)

And TellTale Games, appears to have a Batman game in the worlds... knowing their awesome work on the Sam & Max and Back to the Future games, this could epic.

Also GOOD NEWS...

Well not so good, my PS3 died after exactly 8 years of service... but I'm not going out for a PS4 (can get a new computer for that price)... so I'm checking out different types of streaming devices.

Anyway... onto this week's shows, no Arrow and Flash this weeks, both shows are on hiatus until the week of March 21st

Gotham - Wrath of the Villains: Mr. Freeze Penguin gives Gordon a hard time; a skilled cryogenics engineer named Victor Fries is involved in a body-snatching spree Rating: 5 out of 5... Gotham returns with a bang, reestablishing the status quo of Gordan at the GCPD while putting him at odds with the Captain. Obviously Penguin and Nygma have bonded... but the real story here is setting up Mr. Freeze, we get what has become his standard backstory, doing what he can to save his wife Nora, except here we see it happening from before she's placed into Cryo-stasis, then there's Hugo Strange getting up to no good at Arkham, plus things happening with Butch and Galavan's sister. We didn't see Bruce or Alfred this week, but Selenia saw what's going down with Butch... but as I said, this episode set everything up for how this half of the season is gonna role.

Supergirl - Solitude Kara travels to the Fortress of Solitude hoping to find information on how to defeat Indigo, a being from her past who can travel through the Internet. In the meantime, James and Lucy reach a crossroads in their relationship. Rating: 4 out of 5, a really fine episode that forces me to correct something I said last week, in regards to Kara and J'onn in regards to the death of her aunt, but it's resolved here with Alex confessing. and along with the Lucy Lane subplot... really undercut an other wise awesome episode. Laura Vandervoot was awesome as Indigo, and since she played Supergirl on Smallvville... her throwing down with Melissa Benoist's Supergirl was just epic. We're probably going to see Indigo back later this season.

Agent Carter - Hollywood Ending As Peggy is faced with a mission she cannot come back from, she needs Howard Stark to eradicate Zero Matter. Rating: 3 out 5...Very underwhelming... and in a way a big reminder of the concerns I have for Agents of Shield in regards to effects. The story was 'fine'... but as a season ender, there was nothing of substance. Everything was wrapped up neatly for the most part, but doesn't make excited for a 3rd season.

DC's Legends of Tomorrow - Marooned When the group receives a distress call from another time-ship, Rip decides to answer it, despite warnings from the rest of the team that it seems like a trap. Rating 4 out of 5: Another solid episode this week, with the tension between Snart and Rory coming to the tipping point... thanks to the revelation that Hunter only recruited Rory because of his association with Captain Cold The space-pirates may be the weakest antagonists of the season, but it served as a nice change of space... but there were some things in this episode that kept me from giving this a perfect 5, the Kirk vs Picard debate between Kendra and Ray (the correct answer is Sisko) and their forced relationship, and the insight to Hunter's past were a bit ham-fisted.

Anyway that wraps up this weeks episode. have a good one
