Don Mattingly Bryce Harper, Doctor Who's New Logo, Terry Crews plus tonight's Highlights

So as Spring Training is in it's early stages, the overrated Clown Show that is Bryce Harper decided to talk trash about the Miami Marlins off-season moves that saw the team ship out various players, basically having the nerve to question what a team he doesn't even play for (or has the intention of playing for either), and so when Don Mattingly responded saying that Harper doesn't have the right to comment on what the Marlins did and what their plans on, I smiled. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a Marlins fan, but being a Phillies fan, I can respect what the Marlins are doing, they are looking to rebuild their team from the ground up and that involves getting rid of everything that wasn't working out in the most recent seasons. Sure the Marlins are probably going to stick up the joint for the next few years, but it's a necessary evil The Marlins have a plan... and knowing how the Baseball gods tend to crap on players like Harper, I'm thinking their will be a World Championship parade in Miami long before one involving The Nationals and any other team Harper ends up playing for in his career.

So I saw the new Doctor Who logo... and yeah you won't be seeing me adopt that symbol of modern fascist propaganda for the my weekly review of classic Doctor Who. I get it, those that oversee programming for the BBC are warped like Stalin and as deranged like Castro, but to actually put it in the logo for Doctor Who just to say 'we're with it all the right' is on a pile of crap so high that it justifies the gif you see to your right:

And speaking of piles of a Jurassic Sized Nature... Actor Terry Crews says that the WWE stole the last named Crews for the character Apollo Crews... and he tries to negotiate with them for the rights to use the last name. And here I was just thinking Terry Crews just played characters that were more touched in the head than my father is when things don't go his way. Seriously, though there is a list on Wikipedia of notably people who were around before the him. Of course he's acting as if he 'he made the name relevant', which further proves that people in Hollywood are fucking insane.

Anyway tonight's game was Young Justice Legacy, and outside of two mistakes, I had a pretty decent run getting through Greece and Siberia.

Zari Shines on Legends, Jeff Jarrett in the Hall of Fame and Twitch Highlights

On this week's episode of Legends of Tomorrow, they did the obligatory 'Groundhog Day' episode that all sci-fi / fantasy shows do at one point or another, but this was a great time to give the character of Zari time to shine and properly bond with the rest of the legends. Up till now she's basically just been a filler character who got a moment here or there, but to get an entire episode to evolve her was a nice touch... although with Legends being a 13 episode long series, not sure if it was wise. Oh and we get Wally West joining the show.

The WWE announced that Jeff Jarrett is the latest member of the WWE Hall of Fame... and as I broke down way back in 2016 in my Yay or Nay For The Hall of Fame series (which you can see here) he had a Hall of Fame worthy career, so I'm happy to see that I was right and the WWE finally confirmed it.

Now of course here are this week's highlights from my twitch broadcast which featured me finishing of level 7 of Final Exam, making it to Shang Tsung in Mortal Kombat 2 and starting the horse of a game BlazBlue Central Fiction which has way to damn many arcade endings... but completed Es and Nu-13's arcade modes completely.

Doctor Who: The War Machines Part 4

It’s the start of a new week and I hope you all had a nice weekend. This week’s Classic Doctor Who review is the fourth final chapter of Doctor Who The War Machines and the end of season three.

Part Four first aired July 16, 1966 and had 5.5 Million Viewers tune in, which is an increase of 200,000 from part two, meaning the third season of Doctor Who ended on an upswing, but lets remember the first episode of third season Galaxy 4 Part 1: Four Hundred Dawns had 9 Million Viewers… so over the course from September 1965 to July 1966, 3.5 Million people stopped watching.

The episode opens with The Doctor standing his ground against the War Machine which stops moving when it’s radar dish falls off. Examining the device, The Doctors sees that it was not completed or finalized, and that it would be nearly unstoppable based on what was shown in part three with how it neutralized the mechanical components of the military’s guns and grenades, and so it’s a race against time to find and destroy the other War Machines before they are fully operational. During this, the Doctor drops the TARDIS key which Ben picks up but doesn’t get a chance to return it as the Doctor decoded the machine and determines there are a dozen other such devices within London ready to attack at midday. Major Green is also recovered but he doesn’t know what is going on, as the hypnosis of WOTAN had over him has faded but at the same time another War Machine is on the loose and is headed to the Battersea Power Station. The Doctor suggests that they capture it by using elector-magnets to neutralize it, this course of action is successful with Ben connecting a key final cable to spring the trap, allowing the Doctor to examine and reprogram the machine which heads to where this whole mess started: The Post Office Tower.

Should be noted that Ben during the episode worried about Polly but the Doctor tells him that if he just worries about only one person then nothing will get done with the danger at hand, but since Polly saved him in part three, Ben feels like he owes her big time and he rushes off in hopes of getting to the Post Office Tower first to rescue her. Speaking of Polly, she enters Professor Brett’s lab and wants to be judged by WOTAN for letting Ben escape, but is denied because her help is needed with the task at hand of getting the remaining War Machines ready for deployment. Ben arrives, grabs Polly and drags her out just at the reprogrammed War Machine arrives which destroys WOTAN, and thus the day is saved.

The story and season ends with The Doctor returning to the TARDIS and waiting for Dodo as Polly and Ben inform him that Dodo wants to stay in London, much to the Doctor’s surprise. They say their good-byes, but Ben remembers the key he forgot to return and he and Polly end up entering the TARDIS after the Doctor and it de-materializes with two new passengers.

The final chapter of the War Machines is very straight forward in terms of showing the Doctor coming up with a plan to deal with WOTAN, and capturing one of its field units and turning it against its master works perfectly and avoids a possibility of having The Doctor talk WOTAN to death. There are some great moments during this with Ben volunteering to do a task the Doctor intends to do because he’s a younger more fit man, again establishing Ben as the ‘man of action’ . Sadly Polly is really not herself until the very end of the episode, so her character personality while decently established early on in parts 1 and 2, is left kind of hanging… and I’m not a fan with the off-screen departure of Dodo, it really is a back-handed way of writing off a character.

Anyway Next Week I Star Season Four With The Smugglers

Just A Silly Sunday...

Ah tonight was just a relaxing Sunday... not much of interest in the world, which is amazing, but then again most of the stuff that is news doesn't interest me... On tonight's twitch broadcast things started off with Golf With Your Friends... and I didn't like any of the highlights I took, all of which were pretty mundane so none of it ended up on tonight's highlight reel. Then things went over to Smite and had kind of a mixed bag, as my auto-buy was accidentally disabled by me some how and had plenty of losses but a few wins here and there. Kinda grew to like Bastet as I used her in Da Ji's Adventure and in a few arena matches... but without the rest of Dare to Stream, Smite is pretty boring, so I went back to Paladins and had a few more wins than loses and even teamed up with PandaSweet for some awesomeness. Actually got top play in two matches as Barrik and Drogoz.

Anyway here are tonight's highlights:

BlazBlue Chrono Phantasma Extend Finish anad Paladins!

On tonight's twitch broadcast, it turned into a double header of epic proportions, an hour and half our long broadcast that started with BlazBlue Chrono Phantasma Extend as I went through the arcade mode of several characters to 'complete the game', then it was back to Paladins for a lot of fun in various game modes!

We Need People Control

Last year some kid got shot and killed outside of my home, but you know what, despite that happening near my residence... I have to laugh at the 'social justice' aftermath every time there is a tragedy because they always want to blame guns... news flash boys and girls, guns are not the problem... the real problem is with people, always has been, always will be. Just take a look on Twitter or Facebook and you'll see more sociopaths goofballs spewing some religious or political rhetoric that it warps the minds of the easily brainwashed. We live in a world where people people get loaded up on drugs because they aren't mentally perfect, where people get talked into strapping dynamite to their chests and charging into a market place and where people vote for Democrats and Republicans.... it's a never ending cycle. Hell these were issues happening back in the early to mid-90s... when things were much looser than they are now, and back then we had to just worry about people using fertilizer to take out damn near an entire building..So until people change, it's just going to end up repeating itself over and over again.

How To Get Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection For Steam and Tonight's Highlights

So for a while I was trying to find Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection for Steam, primarily because it's a classic trilogy of games that I enjoyed 20 years ago, even if I don't know remember many of the special moves, but the game isn't for sale on Steam... you can however get the game through Amazon as indicated with the link box below

Now installing it can be a bit of a pain, primarily because you may need uninstall Windows Live Gaming and reinstall it... but if you follow the work around for Street Fighter X Tekken found HERE  then you'll be good to go!

On tonight's twitch broadcast I ended up bouncing around a little bit, starting off with Borderlands 2 where I went to dealt with a blood feud and tried to rescue a giant bird only for Handsome Jack to make it pointless when he remembers what element types there are... then I loaded up Mortal Kombat and managed to complete it after many attempts, downing Shang Tsung with Kano of all people... Next was the Atari Vault to play some classic games while trying to get the controller to work... and finally wrapped things up with BlazBlue Chrono Phantasma Extend, knocking Valkenhyn's arcade mode off the bucket list.

Saturday night's broadcast will focus a lot on BlazBlue, probably will switch it to one round matches to get through as many arcade modes as possible.

UPDATE: 5 AM - Got Back On and managed to stream some Paladins...

The Devil Lady: Seed

The end of another week is upon us, and for this week’s Anime Review, I’m going over Go Nagi’s the Devil Lady episode 4, ‘Seed’ which first aired November 1, 1998

Picking up right where episode three ends, Jun reverts to her human form and plummets to the ground and is taken to HA HQ, waking up and believing she is trapped, Jun reflects on how she felt always different from other kids growing up, when they were playing, she would be sick in bed and when she went to Tokyo to become a model, she had fainting spells. Asuka brings her some clothes because lets face it, Jun loses whatever she’s wearing when she goes into literal beast mode and brings Jun to the apparent boss of the HA, who explains that prior to recent events, the beasts were normally dealt with by the police and local military, and the reason why Jun was recruited was because things are getting beyond what they can handle. Now I bet if Jun was told that from the start, she would probably be more willing to go along with things.

Returning home, Jun finds Kazumi waiting with her stuff out in the hallway, as its revealed Kazumi has no where to go with her parents dead. Jun trying to be understanding and not wanting to reveal her secret is in a tough spot as Kazumi needs some moral support after seeing her parents get killed, but a call from Asuka has Jun rushing into action to deal with a new beast.

The beast of the episode is first a woman named Noriko who is apparently the mistress of some douche-bag stuck at work who brought her up for a little horizontal mambo before telling her to scram, she’s having none of it and transforms into what looks like Biollante from the Godzilla films… and that’s really all I can say about it because as soon as Jun arrives on the scene and transforms she unleashes some sort of energy wave that takes out the beast and the entire 7th floor of an office building… giving Asuka something to worry about and hoping Jun never loses sight of her humanity

This episode is kind of a mixed bag, as we get more of an understanding on Jun’s background and more insight into the HA. For all intents and purposes, Kazumi basically forces Jun to bring her inside while saying the rest of her stuff is arriving the next day. We are introduced in this episode to Asuka’s personal secretary Maeda, who comes across as a nice dude who seems to have some concerns about Jun’s well being. The best moments of the episode has to be when Jun and Asuka go meet the beast and Jun tells Asuka not to tell her what to do when Asuka demands that she transforms already, giving a clear indication to me that Jun is getting sick of Asuka’s attitude towards her, which is further supported in an earlier conversation when Asuka needles Jun about being so eager and speculating Jun has developed a taste for blood in which Jun responds that she is wanting to stop the beasts if possible.

Anyway that will do it for this week’s anime review, next week I’ll go over episode 5, ‘Shark’, between now and then I’ll be wrapping up season three of Classic Doctor Who on Monday with ‘The War Machines Part 4’ and of course you can find me on twitch seven nights a week playing a variety of games.

Thoughts on HuniePop and Tonight's Star Trek Online Highlights & Playlist

As a twitch streamer, I'm often curious as to why certain games were banned from being broadcasted on the platform, like I can understand The Guy Game being banned... but Sakura Angels which is just an visual novel with some interestingly drawn characters... I don't get. Now I game I do understand why it's banned is Huniepop. Developed by HuniePot and released in 2015, it's a typical match-3 game. mixed with a visual novel... which seems innocent enough, you woo 10 characters by being successful in the dates, matching icons on a game grid... and eventually you are rewarded with a 'night at home' with the characters with some interesting audio. There is one hell of a difficulty curve to it was the more successful you are the harder the game gets, but HuniePop is basically just a time filler game with some extreme visuals and audio.

Anyway, on tonight's twitch broadcast I was playing Star Trek Online, and of course here are the highlights of that.

Of course, it being a Star Trek Online night, it means tunes were played So where's the playlist

  1. Rusty Humphries & The Bone-Hea - Do the Picard (02:13)
  2. Devo - Fresh (Album Version) (02:59)
  3. Scott Holt - The Unforgiven (03:53)
  4. The Doors - L.A. Woman (07:50)
  5. War - Low Rider (03:11)
  6. Steiner Brothers - Steinerized (04:21)
  7. Sly & the Family Stone - Dance to the Music (02:59)
  8. Pat Benatar - Heartbreaker (2005 Digital Remaster) (03:28)
  9. Omar & the Howlers - Monkeyland (04:21)
  10. Nirvana - Heart Shaped Box (04:39)
  11. Mick Jagger - Lonely at the Top (03:46)
  12. Madonna - Material Girl (03:53)
  13. London Symphony orchestra - Superman (Main Theme) (04:18)

Wacky Wednesday of Borderlands 2 and BlazBlue

Thankfully not much in terms of headlines caught my attention today, as I was busy with other issues such as trying to figure out how am I going to do some work hat is not necessarily a good idea with how I have to do it but it would mean some extra income, so man it's a tough call to make

Anyway, on tonight's broadcast I did spend several hours playing Borderlands 2, primarily knocking out some side missions, like finding a woman living with the rats and helping the town of Overlook.... thank goodness i did have some Corrosive weapons to deal with a number of loader bots... see I do pay attention!.

Then for the final hour of my broadcast, I loaded up BlazBlue Chonro Phantasma Extend, completing the arcade mode for Platinum The Trinity. The storyline battle of Platinum versus Noel was funny since it did play into the running gag of Noel getting pissed because she is 'lacking' in the chest department!

Here are tonight's highlights and of course important links!

Arrow, Streets of Rage 2 & Street Fighter X Tekken

Got around to watching last week's episode of Arrow 'The Devil's Greatest Trick' and I think it was an okay episode that wrapped up the stuff with Cayden James, not sure if I like that he was basically just a pawn in a greater plot... and I'm really not liking the Dinah being a bitch turn, as she is just coming across badly in every aspect. It really seems like her character's current ark seems to be just to have tension for the sake of tension.

Anyway over on my twitch channel, I led off the night with Streets of Rage 2, again making it to stage 8, but because I have trouble with the Boxer and Flying bosses I couldn't quite get the job done. I have to look up how to beat those two types of enemies as they just eat up too many lives and costs me in the long run.

Of course the big news from tonight's broadcast is that I was able to stream Street Fighter X Tekken, and got myself refamilar with the controls while going through arcade mode with Cammy & Chun Li, Guile & Able and finally Julia & Bob, while capping off the night with the Texas Tornado all four characters on the screen versus mod with Ryu & Ken versus Ogre and Akuma in a character match.

Highlights from tonight's broadcast can be found below plus the usual links!

Legends of Tomorrow Returns, Final Exam, Hand of the Gods & Golf

DC's Legends of Tomorrow return from its hitatus, benching Supergirl until the spring, and this was a fine episode with John Constantine playing a big part while shagging Sara Lance... which I'm sure went over well with the LGBTQ community who said that Sara was just into chicks, forgetting she did date Oliver Queen! Leo Snart had some great moments but I'm surprised he was removed so quickly from the show... but the real show sealer  was Mick who just wanted to watch some Football!

Over on my twitch channel, another level of Final Exam was knocked out, meaning I have two more stages to complete. If all goes right I should finish the game on the 26th. I also debuted Hand of the Gods, the Yu-Gi-Oh styled spinoff of Smite... and properly got my ass kicked before I clicked something causing the game to lockup... and then wrapped things up with Gold With Your Friends, and had a great game on the Forrest Map with a 53.... 3 over Par....hole 17 is such a pain in the ass.

And I did get some tunes played during tonight's broadcast so here's the playlist

  1. Ron Wasserman - Go Go Power Rangers (Instrumental Redux) (03:58)
  2. Metallica - I Disappear (04:26)
  3. Count Basie/Frank Sinatra - Fly Me to the Moon (02:30)
  4. Billie Holiday - Stormy Weather (03:41)
  5. Percy Sledge - When a Man Loves a Woman (02:51)
  6. Chubby Checker - Limbo Rock (02:24)
  7. Run D.M.C. - King of Rock (05:13)
  8. House of Pain - Jump Around (03:38)
  9. George S. Clinton - Sting Theme (02:38)

Doctor Who The War Machines Part 3

On this week’s Tales From The TARDIS segment, I am going over part three of Doctor Who: The War Machines, which first aired July 9, 1966 with a viewership total of 5.3 Million viewers, which is up from the 4.7 Million of Part 2.

The episode opens with Ben managing to avoid the War Machine which sets off an alarm, but he does come across Polly, unfortunately for him, she has been hypnotized by WOTAN and thus, she ends up capturing Ben, Ben is told by Major Green (one of Professor Brett’s associations) that the mechanized evolution is coming and that he is to be destroyed, which is stopped by Polly with orders that WOTAN needs more laborers and that as long as Ben is useful, he will be kept alive. The reason for this is that the WOTAN’s current work force is growing tired, after all, they are only human… but WOTAN’s plans are time sensitive. Ben tries to get through the Polly, but ends up escaping on his own when he notices a guard has gone… but Polly, despite being under WOTAN’s control, she doesn’t sound off the alarm, indicating that Ben did reach some part of her. Ben heads right o to the Doctor and informs him of Polly’s condition, the War Machines and that they are being built around London, leading the Doctor to realize something is big is going on.

Back at the warehouse Polly is confronted by Major Green about Ben’s location, and she can’t explain as to why she didn’t raise the alarm and becomes confused, end ends up remembering her association with Ben as WOTAN’s control over her falters and she is sent back to WOTAN to be punished. The ministry of defense has sent soldiers to the warehouse where they encounter the War Machine and WOTON’s minions who attack them, defeating the soldiers with ease as the War Machine neutralizes their guns and grenades…. Exactly how is a mystery, but this carnage leads to the climax of the episodes of the Doctor standing in front of the War Machine

This episode really is just bridge to the final chapter, but it does have some interesting bits with Polly seemingly breaking away from WOTAN’s control giving a clear indication that she does have a strong mind, however just how cold and evil she comes across in her interactions with Ben is just awesome. There is a great bit of B-Movie cheese where with a close up on her face with dramtic music when she tells Ben the War Machine’s goals that just awesome.
I also want to talk about Sir Charles, the public official that the Doctor has spent most of this story with, and it’s amazing at just how well he comes across. He doesn’t quite believe Ben’s story about the War Machines when he comes to the Doctor, but Sir Charles isn’t one to just let a warning slide, contacting the Minister of Defense who mobilizes the army. It is a shame that modern Doctor Who has never handled public officials well, as if this story was done here in 2018, I’d bet Sir Charles would somehow be some allegory for Donald Trump… hell it happened on Sherlock.

The climax of the episode with the Doctor approaching the War Machine as the army is running away in and of itself is a bad ass moment, showing the Doctor has no apparent fear in the face of danger. It really is credit to William Hartnell’s stage presence… at least in my opinion

Justice Society of America 75 Years, Dare to Stream Smite and a Playlist

Sometimes one has to take advantage of Amazon Prime's free two-day delivery, primarily when there is a version of something that is becoming increasingly hard to find... which brings me to the latest addition to my comic book collection: the hardcover edition of 'Justice Society of America: A Celebration of 75 Years'. Instead of one big story that crosses the decades, this is actually a collection of JSA stories that was published over the years, which includes issues 10 of the 1991/92 series that is my all time favorite comic book series. JSA/75 really is a great example of how artwork and storytelling has evolved from 1941 to 2012m from the simple hand drawn methods to the more 'painted style and everything in between, Some of the more recent stories seem really intriguing so I might start tracking down the proper trade-paperbacks to see everything in proper context.

Over on my twitch channel, kept it pretty easy tonight with Smite. Yeah after a long night on Pandora with Borderlands 2 on Friday and playing Disney's Chicken Little for 6 hours last night, I just stuck with Smite for an extended period tonight because...I wanted to take it 'easy'. Not to mention the long queue times met I could play a lot of music as detailed below with the Playlist of tunes played during the broadcast... and of course some highlights here and there.

Also during tonight's broadcast, had some special guests with CrazyKiller1320, Cammi_316 and CmdrDean from Dare to Stream team up with me for some kick ass action and turning what would've been a fairly short broadcast into something epic!

And here is tonight's playlist
  1. Bon Jovi - Have A Nice Day (Album Version) (03:48)
  2. Bill Haley - (We're Gonna) Rock Around the Clock (02:10)
  3. Joe Turner & His Blues Kings - Shake, Rattle & Roll (02:59)
  4. Jerry Lee Lewis - Great Balls of Fire (01:51)
  5. Chuck Berry - Johnny B. Goode (02:40)
  6. The Big Bopper - Chantilly Lace (02:21)
  7. The Champs - Tequila (02:11)
  8. The Originals - The Bells (03:07)
  9. Honey Cone - Girls It Ain't Easy [*] (03:13)
  10. The Moments - Love on a Two-Way Street (03:30)

Ghostbusters Get Real, Jubilee and Chicken Little?

Ah.... another rainy Saturday and what better way to spend the afternoon than by getting a couple of new trade-collections of some mini-series?

The first of which is Ghostbusters: Get Real, which builds on the premise of the Real Ghostbusters episode 'Janine Melnitz Ghostbuster' by detailing events that took place after Proteus went to capture our heroes at Rockefeller Plaza... with the RGB versions of Egon, Peter, Ray and Winston ending up in the universe of the IDW Ghostbusters. With this story taking place after the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Crossover, everything falls into place logically with how to the get RGBs back home. The artwork is what really sells this with the stuff set in the RGB universe looking nearly perfect with the episode this comic is based on while adding onto it in huge ways. The primal god of Proteus really benefits from this story as he was clearly on Gozer levels of power, but with how easily he was dealt with in the cartoon, we didn't get an insight to how powerful he really is. Also the cameos by the Extreme Ghostbusters and the team of the Ghostbusters: Santucm of Slime video game is pretty sweet.

The other comic I got was the trade-collection of Jubilee from Marvel, which is the only mini-series that solely focus on the X-Man of the same name, she goes to Los Angeles lives with her aunt, goes to a normal High School and a whole lot of teen drama... basically Jubilee having a bit of a normal life. Of course needless to say none of that normal-ness last very long, and things gradually get a little typical with mutants, assassins and all the other usual antics. The story itself is solid, but the artwork can be down right horrific at times. Still a nice addition to my collection.

Of course on tonight's twitch broadcast I was playing Chicken Little... yes the game based on the Disney movie of the same name. Why? Because my twitch channel was built on variety, just look over this past week which featured BlazBlue Chrono Phantasma, Final Exam, Castle of Illusion, Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine, Sonic The Hedgehog 2, Borderlands 2 and Star Trek Online. Besides I like being able to play something totally random. Anyway the game has some nice variety but the platforming for me gets really frustrating towards the end of the game. I couldn't finish the game but Chicken Little will be back!

Becky Lynch Should Play Ann Possible, Borderlands 2 Highlights

Now there is a Live Action Kim Possible Movie in the works, and for those who are big fans of the show they are already lining up who fantasy castings for every possible role, but the one that stands out to me is that based on looks and apparent age, WWE Superstar Becky Lynch should be the one to play Ann Possible, Kim's mother. It just makes sense since Becky herself said she would want to play the character of Kim Possible, so I think this is a fair compromise... and an excuse for a click bait title.

Anyway here are tonight's highlights

Shani Davis Is a Crybaby, Eagles Championship Parade,Star Trek Online Highlights & Playlist

Over across the Delaware River today, an epic parade for the Philadelphia Eagles winning the Super Bowl was held, and damn was it awesome to see on TV. Hard to believe it took this many years for someone in Philly to realize 'hey we should have the parade go to the Philadelphia Art Museum' instead of the Sports Complex in terms of making it a great visual. Now the broadcast that I saw was the one handled by CSN-Philly, which had its fair share of technical issues and like with the Phillies Parade in 2008, it seems like the presenters ran out of things to say an hour into it. Of course Jason Kelce pretty much lost his damned mind dressing up like a Mummer and dropping more F-Bombs to out do Chase Utley from 10 years ago.

Switching gears... lets me talk about a Gold Medal Crybaby named Shani Davis... this jackass went on twitter basically saying the only reason why Erin Hamlin was named flag-bearer was because she's white and he's black.... funny thing, that's not what happened. As each of the eight 'federations' of athletics that make up Team USA nominates an athlete, and they vote who the flag-bearer should be, and it the result was a 4-4 tie between Davis and Hamlin. Now to be fair to both athletes they flipped a coin, a 50/50 chance on who should be one to carry Old Glory and Hamlin won fair and square... but Davis proved him to be a dishonorable punk by showing he doesn't understand sportsmanship.

Anyway... here are tonight's highlights

And this week's playlist

The Devil Lady: Wings

On this week’s Talking Anime segment, I will be going over episode three of The Devil Lady, titled Wings which first aired October 25, 1998. And I have to say I love the simple one word titles of this series.

The episode opens with Kazumi working during a photoshoot and when there is a break she spots Jun, who storms off when Kazumi calls out to her. Later when Kazumi calls her, offering to be the friendly ear that Jun has always been to her, Jun basically tells her to bug off… and gets lured to a bar by a random dude for a meeting with Asuka, who basically repeats herself about Jun being a beast and she best remember its better to be the hunter than the hunted. After leaving, Jun encounters a rather creepy kid who is one of the Devil Beasts, who tells her that they are going to target Kazumi and implies that Jun ‘longs for her’… leading to Jun doing everything possible to reach Kazumi’s house, arriving just after Kazumi’s parents are killed. Pissed beyond all reason,

Jun lets out her beast, transforming instantly, no hesitation what so ever and does battle with a giant rat which stood little chance, Jun just beats the crap out of it in short order killing it easily with Kazumi’s house being destroyed in the process. Another beast appears, looking like dragon with bird wings and feet that says Jun is going to pay for her deeds since she’s the reason Kazumi and her family are dead, clutches Jun’s head lifts her up with the intent to drop her to her death… only Jun sprouts wings flies up and rips off the 2nd beast’s wings sending it crashing down onto some electrical power poles before the episode ends with Jun seeing Kazumi’s apparently dead body on the ground.

This episode… kicks all sorts of ass, while not much is advanced in terms of character development, the fact Jun cares so deeply for Kazumi to be made an easy target for the other beasts speaks volumes, not to mention just how wicked Jun got when she got to Kazumi’s house. I mean think about it, in episodes 1 and 2, Jun basically was in mortal danger before she transformed but here, she powered up without a second thought. The beat down on the rat was awesome, with Jun sending it up to the ceiling of Kazumi’s living room and punching it repeatedly and with enough force to bring the entire building down, not to mention the double-sledge shots it its skull where the impact of her caving’s its head in was shown… so the big takeaway I have from this episode is…. don’t fuck with Jun’s friends, she will find you and she will kill you.

Black Panther 100% on Rotten Tomatoes Plus Borderlands 2 Highlights

So a big thing that got my attention on Wednesday is the news that Marvel's Black Panther got a 100% certified fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes... and I can't help but look at that sideways. Let me tell ya why... first the current mindset here in the United States combined and second the fallout of all those critics who did not give Ghostbusters 2016 positive reviews being called sexist and misogynistic, which leads me to think critics were pressured into giving positive reviews to avoid being called racist. Hell those persons who didn't like Luke Cage on Netflix or the current Black Lighting series on the CW are being labeled as such (just go on reddit and you'll see this for yourself). Of course the fact I'm questioning on if the 100% is truth or just telling people what they want to hear is because of all those idiots known as Democrats and Republicans, those fuckwads have basically made it impossible to determine if one should trust movie critics or not.

Anyway here are highlights from tonight's broadcast of Borderlands 2:

The Flash, Castle Of Illusion, Mean Beans and Sonic 2

So Barry Allen is already out of prison? Yeah that was my reaction at the end of this week's episode which saw several villains including Jynx killed off by The Thinker who again changed bodies (he's in Jynx's body now) and I can't help but wonder if it was just to give the Flash another thing for fan fic writers to ship... not that I'm complaining. Ralph's new shape shift ability will get some various uses and really was a great bit of plot convenience to get Barry out of prison The real highlight was Killer Frost giving Ralph a pep-talk about friendship... that was unexpected.

On tonight's broadcast I finally finished Disney's Castle of Illusion, I half-thought about starting the game over from the start but went straight to the final stage and it took me like 15 tries to beat the final boss after FINALLY learning the pattern. Afterward loaded up Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine (made it stage 3) and Sonic The Hedgehog 2 (made it to the boss of Winged Fortress) to get the broadcast to last 2 and 1/2 hours lol. Anyway highlights are below.

Supergirl, Final Exam and BlazBlue

I did happen to watch this weeks episode of Supergirl tonight and good lord was that not a good episode for the second break of the third season, with the DEO finding Purity and then her just going off with Reign... and the Mon-El sub-plot was just dumb. The only thing good about the episode was the ending when Lena realizes who Reign is in a rather well done scene.Of course I am looking forward to the return of Legends of Tomorrow next Monday, and I heard that Wally West is moving from The Flash to Legends because hey he kind of looks like Firestorm right? That's why it was done... right?

Anyway on tonight's short broadcast I knocked out another level of Final Exam and went through the arcade mode of BlazBlue Chronophantasma as Celica and Relius.... so two more down.

Doctor Who: The War Machines Part 2

It’s Monday February 5, 2018… and I’m betting there are many people in the greater Philadelphia Area who did not go into work today because the Philadelphia Eagles won the Super Bowl Last Night against the New England Patriots… and even though I am not, repeat NOT, an Eagles Fan… I do feel obligated to do this….

Fly, Eagles Fly!
On The Road To Victory! (Fight! Fight! Fight!)
Fight, Eagles fight!
Score a touchdown 1, 2, 3! (1! 2! 3!)
Hit 'em low!
Hit 'em high!
And watch our Eagles fly!
Fly, Eagles Fly!
On The Road To Victory!
E-A-G-L-E-S!
Eagles!

Okay that said, lets get to this weeks Doctor Who review, which is Part 2 of Doctor Who: The War Machines, and this episode first aired July 2, 1966 and saw the viewership total drop to 4.7 Million, keeping in trend with previous Doctor Who episodes of being up and down in terms of viewers at the time.

Under the control of WOTAN, Dodo goes to bring the Doctor to it marking the first time a companion is really directly used in a way that could harmed our favorite Time Lord. WOTAN issues orders to its other minions on who will live and die, with plans to take over first London, then Washington and Moscow. How it’s going to get control is via telephone communications, as scene in the previous episode when Dodo is called at the night club. Pretty devious and ingenious if you ask me.

Dodo finds the Doctor at the night club with Ben and Polly and tries to guide the Doctor towards some of her fellow mind-controlled minions, but Polly tags along and prevents this. At the same time Ben encounters a homeless man who plans to sleep in an empty warehouse… which is where WOTAN is having his minions begin construction of ‘war machines’ needed for its plot. Safe to say, the homeless dude doesn’t live to warn anyone.

The next day Dodo uses info about an ill-secretary to get Polly away from the Doctor and gets him to phone Professor Brett who patches the call over to WOTAN, and the plan to get him undercontrol nearly works if it isn’t for Sir Charles who gets the Doctor to a chair where the Doctor shakes off the effects and Dodo’s comment of the Doctor not receiving instructions get him to realize something is very wrong. Using a bit of hypnosis, The Doctor puts Dodo to sleep and she is taken to a country estate to rest… and this is the last we see of Dodo in Doctor Who.
This entire situation inspires Polly to go check on Professor Brett and when she arrives at the Post Office Tower, she realizes something is very wrong with how everyone is acting. At the same time, Ben comes to the Doctor looking for Polly, informing him about the homeless man that was killed and is sent to look for clues, which Ben finds in the episodes climax where he hears, sees and gets in targeting sights one of WOTAN’s War Machines.

First, let’s talk about Dodo’s final episode because let’s face it, the character is not quite herself and in the long run, this ended up being a theme for her in a few post-travels stories where she doesn’t quite remember her time with the Doctor. It’s certainly not a glamorous departure by any means and one could argue it’s when Dodo meets Ben in part 1 of the War Machines is the last time we see the real ‘Dodo’. Secondly, WOTAN’s plot is really straight forward with no messing around, it’s very logical plan to use the phone lines to take over people’s minds and to get war machines built was quickly as possible, it makes everything a race against time. Third, The War Machines themselves kind of seem like more mobile versions of the Mechonoids in terms of their size, and there is some subtle influence of the Daleks design as well. Lastly More of Ben and Polly’s personalities are established, with Polly being shown as quite kind and concerned while Ben is a bit of a smart ass who won’t hesitate helping if needed as both got some decent screen time with The Doctor.

And on that lack of a bombshell that will do it for this week, coming up in the Basement, I’ll be reviewing The Devil Lady episode 3 and next week of course I’ll review Doctor Who: The War Machines Part 3… till then, have a good one folks

Eagles Win The Super Bowl, BlazBlue Chronophantasma

So during my Sunday night broadcast, I was keeping a casual eye on the Super Bowl which saw the Philadelphia Eagles defeat the New England Patriots, now sure I live in the greater Philadelphia area, however I am not an Eagles fan, but it was kind of neat to see a team win their first ever championship... even though the Super Bowl game itself is nothing but a glorified exhibition in the grand scheme of things. I do find it funny that the Flipboard app on my phone had an 'alert' that said the Eagles rallied to defeat the Patirots, except the Eagles were winning 99% of the time.

Now due to the technical issues with my current PC that occured on Friday night, I lost my save file for BlazBlue Continuum Shift, when reinstalling that from Steam, all of my progress was lost. Now I do consider that game completed in that I did stream every single Story Mode aspect of it, but I was working on the arcade mode part of beating it with every character.... and I wasn't in the mood to start over.... now this is the reverse of the problem I have with BlazBlue Chronophantasma, in which I want to stream all of the story mode stuff but I completed that in 2016 and I tried deleted the save files but the game just recreated my progress, so for this game it would be completing the arcade mode with every character to consider it completed.

Which brings me to something I did not realize until after my broadcast was done, in that my Boom Replays were all off by 10 seconds.... meaning I did not get any good clips from tonight. I managed to get some things but not much.

Thoughts on Ninja Sentai Kakuranger and Jurrassic Park The Game Highlights

So as you know, last night's twitch broadcast got derailed in a bad way and while I was fixing my PC (till 7 AM) I loaded up the Shout! App on my Roku and started to watch  Ninja Sentai Kakuranger, the Sentai series which became Mighty Morphin Power Rangers season 3 and the Alien Rangers mini-season... and compared to like Zyuranger and Ohranger.... Kakuranger is so freaking over the top with and expressive, like how the hell was this show for kids in Japan? I think by fare it is my favorite Sentai series so far and I'm only up to episode 23.

Here are clips from my February 3, 2018 broadcast of Jurassic Park The Game

The Devil Lady Episode 2: Blood

On this week’s Talking Anime segment, I will be going over The Devil Lady episode 2: Blood, which first aired on October 18, 1998

Episode 2 opens with Jun in her mega-Devil Lady form battling the Wolf-beast and beheading it after a gigantic struggle, Asuka wonders about how they are going to keep the press out of reporting that two Godzilla-sized monsters were slugging it out on the docks which I find hilarious cause it seems like a total ‘after thought’. The next day Jun wakes up at home, hoping it was all a dream until she sees her torn blood soaked clothes, and it appears she considers suicide until she gets a call from her agent for a modeling gig. She is late to arrive and meets a fan before doing the gig, and we sees the first instances of her more Devilish half seeping through with how she looks at the camera and later traumatizes the fan by forcing a kiss on him, if he wasn’t so nervous I wonder how Jun would’ve continued things. After returning home, she has dinner was Kazumi who talks about issues at home with her father, but that is interrupted by Asuka who takes Jun to a bar to battle another beast, a beetle like creature which Jun easily dispatches once she ‘lets the beast out’. The beast in its dying breath says that Jun will die 100 deaths when the rest of those who has evolved come for her as the episode ends.

This episode is fairly well paced, giving viewers the second half of the Wolf-beast fight as well as early insights as to how Jun’s Devil half can influence her behavior such as kissing the fan at the modeling shoot and smacking Kazumi’s hand away from some pictures Asuka brought to interrupt their dinner. We get some info on Kazumi who is still in High School, got in trouble for breaking curfew and considers Jun to be her big sister, plus we learn a little about Asuka who works for the Human Alliance, an organization designed to use a beast aka Jun to hunt and destroy other beasts to save the world. Another character also gets some key on-screen time is Jun’s agents Yuasa who has some concerns over Jun’s behavior… I don’t know just seems like he’s being set up to be killed early on, but thought I’d mention him anyway.

Anyway, I enjoyed the episode overall and I’m looking forward to going over episode three next week. On Monday I’ll be reviewing part two of Doctor Who: The War Machines and of course there will be nightly highlight reels of my exploits over on twitch. Till next time have a good one!

Wednesday Night On Pandora

So it was back to Borderlands 2 on Wednesday Night, picking up with the mission A Dam Fine Rescue.... and man was this a grind once the Hyperion Robots landed... I didn't come across any weapons that did corrosive damage at this point, and they are immune to fire... but I think my biggest mistake was that I didn't realize that my shield is so under powered, so next time out I have to get myself a better shield that can do some damage.
