Blue Seed Episode 26: New Soul

Hello Dwellers and Welcome to the Basement...We're talking Anime today, as we wrap up our look of the series Blue Seed with episode 26 'New Soul'.

Next week: Akira!

PLANTED SEEDS

Blue Seed
Episode 26: New Soul
Original Air Date: March 29, 1995
English Air Date: January 29, 2000

I finally get what Kaede's real deal was that she was in despair over how far humanity has sunk to where there was no hope to be seen

The ending, for all intents and purposes, reminds me of Ghostbusters 2, just without The Statue of Liberty but with Murokomo getting blasted by Susano-Oh

Momiji does indeed sacrifice herself and dies, only to be brought back to life when Kaede and Susano-Oh choose to do so before going off to who knows where

I really don't like the fact the 'what happens to the TAC' montage is covered up by the ending credits.

Nice touch on having Momiji & Kusanagi return to where they first met to 'begin again'.

Doctor Who: The Chase Part 1

Hello Dwellers and Welcome to the Basement...
Today we begin our look at the six part story 'The Chase' with part 1 'The Executioners', which sees the return of The Daleks!

TIME AND RELATIVE DIMENSIONS

Doctor Who
The Chase Part 1: The Executioners
Original Air Date: May 22, 1965
Viewers: 10 Million (Up 1.5. From previous week – Part 4 of The Space Museum)

-Increase in viewers most likely due to the teaser at the end that episode showing the return of The Daleks

-This episode is notable for an appearance of The Beatles performing 'Ticket To Ride' which gets cut out of most modern releases of the episode

-The Dalek rising out of the sand at the end of the episode sounds a lot like Cartman from South Park

-The Time-Space Visualizers was clearly created to have some 'educational' stuff on Dr. Who, such as showing off the Gettysburg Address and Queen Elizabeth's court.

-Both Queen Elizabeth I and Shakespeare would be reoccurring characters in Dr. Who, particularly in the 10th Doctor era (the least said about that the better)

-Being from 1963, Ian and Barbara would know who the Beatles are, however, the song Ticket to Ride came out in 1965, so there is no way Ian should know the words to it

-This is the start of the final six episodes featuring the characters of Barbara Wright & Ian Chesterton.
