Death Kiss (1976) - From The Vault

Hello Dwellers and Welcome To The Basement...

Last week on Terror Tales Volume 2, I had the good fortune to come across Doctor Vampire... this week, I go over the second movie that's included, Death Kiss... and I am not so fortunate...

QUICK NOTES
  • The musical score for this film is fairly decent and is nearly the only real saving grace of the movie
  • The dubbing is alright, but the actors have zero on screen presence
  • This film should come with a 'warning' about content
  • The 'sleaze' scenes of this film goes on way too damn long...
  • The best scene is when Mike is looking for someone to be a near copy of Ellen, because of the dance floor show that is taking place at the same time.
  • This movie just 'ends'... no real ending at all.
  • I am very much aware of the various alternate titles to this moving, including the one that is a little too on the nose

Thoughts On Bob Dylan's Silence Regarding Noble Prize

Hello Dwellers and Welcome to the Basement....
Bob Dylan is a genius, and as a genius there are times where when it comes to awards, his reactions or acceptance of them can be a bit strange, but his silence regarding him being the recipient of the 2016 Noble Prize for Literature has some folks a bit angry...

QUICK NOTES
  • I admit I'm not the biggest Bob Dylan fan in the world, his music doesn't quite appeal to me, but his lyrics are indeed poetic when you read them
  • It's strange that the Noble comittiee feels it's arrogant and disrespectful of Dylan not to say anything, didn't one person have the reaction of 'Oh Christ...' and rolled their eyes when they found out?

iZombie Apocalypse Part 3 'Six Feet Under and Rising'

Hello Dwellers and Welcome To Comics From The Basement...

On this week's episode, I'm going over issues 13-18 of the iZombie Comic Book Series, and it's where things get rather insane with a quite a number of new characters introduced.

QUICK NOTES
  • If the first 12 issues were going too slow, then issues 13-17 is where the pace is increased by a factor of five, because it's rapid introduction of new characters like the Dead Presidents and several brisk plot twists
  • Because of the pace, it does feel as if we miss out on a lot, considering how issue 13 opens with Gwen, Scott and Ellie clearly did something in the style of Scooby-Doo, but we don't get to see it!
  • Speaking of which, Ellie sure left Scott to hang down in that cavern for a while, several days at least for people to actually WORRY ABOUT HIM!
  • Was it really necessary to know that Amon loves skeeball?
  • Maybe it's cause I'm going through the entire series, but the artwork on the faces of every character is very similar, and it isn't until issue 18 where seeing something slightly different makes it noticeable
  • Issue 18 is basically a 'throw away', as it's a prequel involving Diogenes and his early days with the White Coat Corporation and him being partnerned with Horatio before their initial encounter with Claire.
