Recap and Review Supergirl: Survivors (S2,EP04)

Happy Halloween Dwellers and Welcome To The Basement...

Tonight we are going over this week's episode of Supergirl, titled Survivors, where Supergirl had the stop an Alien Fight Club, while Hank tries to get to known M'Gann

  • The plot of the Alien Fight Club felt like it was lifted from Justice League Unlimited...
  • Hank's reaction when he finds out what M'Gann really is is going to be very very interesting...
  • Alex seemed a bit jealous that Maggie had a girlfriend...
  • Kara taking Mon-El under her care screams potential romance or odd couple comedy, I am hoping for both

Hell In a Cell '16 (Recap and Review)

Hello Dwellers and Welcome to the Basement...

Tonight was the WWE's Hell in a Cell pay-per-view, featuring the stars of Monday Night RAW, and yes Charlotte vs Sasha Banks closed the show, but was it an enjoyable wrestling event?

  • Don't remember who Cedric Alexander pinned, but I loved that he was selling Cedric's lumbar-check finisher by arching his back up from the mat while keeping his shoulders down to allow Cedric to get the win.
  • Roman Reigns thrives in gimmick matches because it hides the fact he can't work and he has an incredibly limited move-set
  • I personally would've booked Rusev to use the chain he had IN HIS HANDS to choke out Reigns while he was in the accolade to get the win, then come back with these two one more time in a Russian Chain Match
  • Really liked the selling Bayley was doing selling her shoulder injury in her short match with Dana Brooke, who is also making progress as a performer
  • The Kevin Owens / Seth Rollins match basically became pointless the second Chris Jericho got involved, totally lost interest in the match, which is amazing considering I don't care at all for Owens
  • Surprised that Brian Kendrick won the Cruiserweight title, but the story made sense with him cheating to win the title, question is does TJ Perkins get it back in a rematch
  • I really hate the fact that Mick Foley was a focus in the promo for the Charlotte vs Sasha Banks match, and that the start of the match was a carbon copy of the abomination of the King of The Ring 1998 Hell in a Cell match with Foley as Mankind vs The Undertaker
  • The first women's hell in a cell match was great, and I'm hoping it leads to SmackDown doing a women's Elimination Chamber match (assuming they get that pay-per-view name and if it gets brought back by the WWE)

iZombie: Why I Prefer The TV Show Over The Comic Book

Hello Dwellers And Welcome To The Basement... After finishing watching iZombie Season 2, and announcing that starting with season 3 that the show will be apart of my Recap and Review stable, I figure I better explain my shallow reasons for preferring the television show over the comic book series.

Astro Boy Episode 51 'Astro's First Love' (Talking Anime)

Hello Dwellers and Welcome To The Basement...

On this week's vlog of 'Talking Anime', I'm going over the final episode of the 1980 Astro Boy series titled 'Astro's First Love' which is also the final episode on the Astro Boy Greatest Astro Adventures DVD

Big Thanks To 'Retro Toons' for having the Astro Boy series uploaded on YouTube, so you can watch it and make your own judgements on the episode!

  •  I am aware that in the original Japan broadcast, there was a prologue done by Astro Boy's creator Osamu Tezuka, but it's not included on this DVD
  • Because of the missing prologue, the final scene with Astro telling the viewer's 'they now know his secret' comes off a bit weird
  • This episode raises a ton of question about Doctor Boyton's original robot designs...
  • I really wish this episode was longer, to see Astro's feelings develop, but the point of him falling in love and wanting Nikki to be apart of him still comes across well
  • There is quite a bit of action in this, in fact the military base looked like it was designed by some 90s kids (AT4W reference)
  • The 'Astro Boy Greatest Astro Adventures' DVD is a great little compilation of the best episode of the 1980 series

iZombie Apocalypse Part 4 - Repossesion

Hello Dwellers and Welcome to the Basement...

We have reached the end, the final 9 issues of iZombie, collected in the trade paperback 'Repossession'... issues 19 through 28, strap yourselves in folks, cause I'm going over them at a rapid pace!

  • Gavin's reaction to Grampa Chimps not being too keen on Scott's preferances is down right hilarious
  • The fact that Galatea's plan to have Francisco absorb Xiatlu is basically what Gwen does to save the world shows that if she didn't want to rule the world, Galatea could've been the one to save it
  • The rushed pace of the comics makes it feel as though the entire series takes place within a couple of months
  • I actually prefer to iZombie televison series to the comic, if for anything that it doesn't come across as being jumbled.

Garfield's Halloween Adventure - From The Vault

Hello Dwellers and Welcome To The Basement...

Back in 1989 I first saw Garfield's Halloween Adventure, and so to wrap up the search for Halloween'ish movies here in October, I figured why not talk about and review it?

Yeah, managed to find it on YouTube for you all to watch and enjoy!

  • Why do I remember seeing this in 1989, well because I saw it the same night I saw the Real Ghostbusters Halloween Special on ABC!
  • The special when you think about is a bit of a hodgepodge of ideas, Garfield goes trick or treating... and ends up on an island as dead pirates are coming to get their treasure?
  • The scene of Garfield nearly drowning stands out as one of the darkest moments in the history of all the Garfield animated specials
  • The animation stills hold up, but it's clear this was made prior to when computers were more prominent with animation
