After The Bell: WWE Cutting Dead Weight

Hello and Welcome to the Basement...

The WWE did something it hasn't done in a long time... cleared out dead-weight on the main roster. It was a long time coming with the influc of guys brought up from NXT... So let's run down those who were wished the best in their future endeavors.

El Torito - With the repacking of Los Matadores back to being the 'Colon Cousins', El Torito's role in the WWE as a mascot for the two bullfighters was made pointless. Since the WWE doesn't have a minis-division, this was just a matter of time.

Hornswoggle - Let's be honest kids, this one was probably long over-due, they tried him with a few different roles, but he hasn't been seen on TV in quite a while. Like with El Torito, the lack of an minis-division limited what they could do with him unless he was being a mascot

Zeb Colter - This one surprises me a great deal, as they could use him as an instructor at the Performance Center, he was great as the voice piece for Jack Swagger and the stupidity to pair him with Del Rio last fall still baffles me. Probably his age was a factor, and the fact they had him on scooter limited what they could do with him creatively.

Santino Marella - I was surprised he was still under contract, but he retired from in-ring competition a while ago and only made sporadic appearances, he'll probably pop up from time to time.

Damian Sandow - A bit surprising, but this is truly a case of creative having nothing for him, and he can work the indies and make his way back to the WWE for a third time. (For those of you who may not know, he made it to the main roster year prior as Idol Stevens, was released, and got re-signed)

King Barrett - This one is not surprising at all, since he was leaving next month anyway when his contract expired. Injuries limited what the WWE could do with him.

Alex Riley - Not really all that surprising, he was in the WWE dog-house for a while, but I thought he was doing great as broadcaster before getting back in the ring last year. A recent twitter meltdown was probably a factor here.

Cameron: nah nah nah nah nah hey hey good bye... I've been calling for this release for a while now, as Cameron is one of those Divas hired out right for looks and with out a single clue or desire to improve in the ring... want proof? Just look at her match with Asuka from NXT earlier this year, and you'll see Asuka doing every single thing herself.

So basically... the one two releases that surprise me, are Colter and Sandow...but otherwise, to quote Jay Sherman... 'Nothing of Value Was Lost'.
