This Week With The Superheroes: April 1, 2016

From a The 'King' to The Girl Of Steel meeting the Scarlet Speedster... it's all covered right here in the Basement!

Hello and welcome to the Basement... and welcome to This Week With The Superheroes...
First Up New... I have website... well a direct URL... Takes you to my blogger page, where text versions of all my commentaries can be found.

It has occurred to me that since I talk about more than just Superheroes on This Week With The Superheroes... I might as well just rename it and call it the weekly round up. Same formate, with News and Episode reviews. Just with a simpler title. I toyed about calling this the Weekly Round Up...

That out of the way, let's do the News!

Bruce Campbell took to his facebook and twitter accounts today for a special announcement: He'll be playing The Doctor in a Doctor Who Christmas special this year! With a poster announcing the special, Campbell is dressed in a TARDIS blue suit, with a TARDIS pin on it.

"After more than 50 years adventuring through time, space, and the United Kingdom... The Doctor is finally coming to America," it reads, with both BBC America and Syfy logos on it.

Considering it's April 1st... I'm very curious if this isn't some huge prank... regardless... Bruce Campbell as the Doctor could indeed work... again... if this indeed real afteralll, he did say the following: "I had to wait until today, but I'm super excited to announce this" One way or another... real or bogus... hail to the king baby!

Netflix is Plotting 'Punisher' Spinoff Starring Jon Bernthal... this is good news, considering how Frank Castle got screwed over with the Elektra / Hand story in season two.

Zack Snyder, discussed his plans for shooting Justice League: Part One, saying the film's official title may also evolve.

“Right now the working title is Justice League,” Snyder told Collider. “Actually, I’m in that phase where I’ve been drawing logos and I’ve been drawing title treatments and stuff like that to try and figure out what it means, what Justice League is, visually, so we’ll see if the name evolves with this visual presentation.”

Yeah... yeah... listen... just call it 'Justice Lords'... cause there is nothing 'Justice League' about your movies other than Wonder Woman a'ight.

There was more casting new for 'MacGyver' this week, Califorication's Addison Timlin  has been cast as the female lead opposite Lucas Till in CBS' reboot of the iconic 80's action/adventure show, MacGyver and will be joined by Hawaii Five-0 recurring cast member, Michelle Krusiec. Timlin will play Mickey, an app developer who’s aggressively progressive in her political views, with a soft spot for MacGyver and Krusiec will play Agent Croix, working for the Department of Homeland Security

Anyone that has a problem with these casting decisions should realize that the original series had its fair share of gorgeous women in reoccuring roles, such as Teri Hatcher playing Penny Parker and Elyssa Davalos playing Nikki Carpenter

There is speculation that Marvel's Captain Brittan could be headed to TV screens. For those of you who may not know, Captain Britain was created by Chris Calremont and Herb Trimpe at Marvel UK, to give the British their own 'Captain America'  and debuted back in 1976 and was exclusive to the UK up until the late 80s with the launch of the Excalibur series here in States, and even appeared in The Super Hero Squad Show, and is apart of both the Lego Marvel Super Heroes and Avengers video games. So he's been around. Bringing him to TV would certainly be huge in my opinion... and hopefully it'll be also shown here in USA.

Kyle Smith of the New York Post had this to say, that Batman V Superman Dawn of Justice was 'too smart' for Marvel fans...  oh boy... because of how much of the movie attacks Christianity and cross-parallel of saying Superman is Jesus with a large chunk of the movie attacking those who believe in something greater than themselves....... I'm just going to say the following:  It's easy to pretend to be smart where tearing down what someone believes in.... and as Action Comics #725 asked... "What's So Funny About Truth, Justice & the American Way?

Anyway let's go over this week's shows and it's STACKED This week we got

Gotham: Wrath of the Villains: Prisoners
After being removed from protective custody, Gordon faces new threats within the prison walls and must rely on a new friend for help; Penguin bonds with his father, while his step-mother and her children advance with their own plans

Rating 5 out of 5 - This was awesome, Gordan in prison... and I have to compare this to the Daredevil episode  "Seven Minutes in Heaven", almost the same vibe... that sees a brutal death and the 'hero' escaping. I do like how Bullock went to Falcone for help and seeing all the pieces falling into place to get Gordan out. Was a bit disappointed to see Penguin's father get killed off so soon

Supergirl - Worlds Finest
Kara gains a new ally when the Flash arrives from an alternate universe and helps her fight the Silver Banshee and Livewire in exchange for helping him return home.

Rating 5 out of 5 - I LOVED THIS EPISOD! LOVE IT! I love the fact that establishes even more multiple earths, so we have Earth-1 (The Flash, Arrow), Earth-2 (With Jay Garrick, Zoom) and now Earth-3? Earth-CBS? Either way... this sets things up long term, with the possibilies of future cross-overs, plus if you know anything about comics, we could see a TV version of Crisis on Infinite Earths However elements mentioned in this story means that its supposed to be seen after what's next

The Flash - Flash Back
After discovering the true identity of Zoom, Barry is more determined than ever to stop him; to increase his speed, Barry goes back in time to look for help from an arch nemesis.

Rating 4 out of 5 - Hey look at that... Barry isn't a total idiot this week! Going back and time, working with the Eobard Thawn the Reverse Flash to try and get faster was genius. The Time Wraith thing was a little hokey, but seeing that it redeemed The Pied Piper... which is something that happened after Crisis On Infinite Earths, was very very cool. This episode also should've aired before Worlds Finest.

Agents Of Shield - Watchdogs
Agent Mack and his brother step in when a radical group called the Watchdogs plan to eliminate the Inhumans; Simmons finds a powerful chemical compound.

Rating: 4 out of 5 - Turns out this was a very good week, with Agents of SHIELD delivering a very good episode. We get some great insight into Mack's personal life, and it seems like his brother will be reoccurring now that Bobbie and Hunter are gone (still shocked by that), and Lincoln got some character development in proving himself to Coulson.

Arrow - Beacon of Hope
Brie Larvan turns up at Palmer Tech after breaking out of jail, and threatens to kill everyone; Team Arrow gets help from a surprising ally.

Rating: 3 out of 5 - BEES! MY GOD! Yes as I said before I am a fan of Atop the Fourth Wall and every time Bees, I remembered that meme. This was almost like 'Die Hard at Palmer Tech'... Brie's reasoning seems really random to go after Felicity felt a little contrived and out of no where, but I don't remember Brie's initial appearance all too well so it probably makes more sense... but this episode was more about Curtis Holt seemingly stepping towards becoming Mr. Terrific

Legends of Tomorrow - Left Behind
Ray, Sara and Kendra are stranded in the 1950s after the Waverider leaves without them; Sara goes back to the League of Assassins.

Rating: 5 out of 5 - What a great follow up and continuation of the story, Rory is back, he was found by the Time Masters and hunted down and kidnapped Snart. Ray and Kendra were having a good two years together and looks like they had time to really become couple, and it the more I see it the more it works. It was nice to see the the League of Assassins and we see the return of Ra's Al Ghul to set up Sara's origin as a per-destination paradox... but what was epic was how Snart got out of those handcuffs, freezing his hand and smashing it on the floor... GRUESOME! But don't worry, his hand grows back! Looking forward to seeing how the redeeming of Rory will go down in upcoming episodes

Anyway that will wrap everything up.... tomorrow is Saturday, which means we'll be going over another Tale From The TARDIS.... The Wall of Lie!
See ya then
