Lets Play Star Trek Online: Taking Care of Enemies

One... more... frakking... system patrol... GAH!
Gameplay video at the bottom of this post!

Hello and Welcome To The Basement... and this week's Lets Play Star Trek Online...

The Alliance needs more help if it wants to succeed against the Vaadwaur...and making packs with the other races in the Delta Quadrant is the best way to do that, and our job is to go out there and show the value of cooperation...

At least that's basically what we're told by Commander Mena... instead what we get a mish-mash of missions with only one having real ties to main story. Since we were at the bottom of the map following Revolution the smart thing to do was to start from the southern point of the mission and travel northward... seems logical right?

Well lets just say, things go wrong right from jump street when we head to Wyanti System, where we run into a disabled Turei ship who wants us to transport a prisoner. Okay no problems... beam the guy to brig and meet up with a Benthan ship right? Well no, these Turei steam some parts from my ship, and jump to under-space...obviously we have to pursue them... and thankfully the Turei ships are rather weak combat wise, four waves and then facing the thief vessel, which upon being disabled, surrenders. A choice is given to let them live or wipe them out... I elected to let them live... and this is where things go astray. Upon leaving the system... I ended up half way up the quadrant, which meant instead of going north, I was heading south.

The good news is, this placed the ship where Rai Sahen has a mission assignment, but first, we hit the Tekara system... where we get more of Captain Janeway's 'impact of doom' on the Delta Quadrant. In this case with the Malon she 'inpsired' to be more environmentally friendly... and those that are, are persecuted by those on their home world. This is more of a 'defensive' mission and the good news is, that the Malon you're protecting have defenses that pack quite a wallop, making this a walk in the park.

Then it's off to the Grennen system to meet with Sahen for the one part of this that ties in with the main story. A group of Vaadwaur want out of the war, and want amnesty so that they can start a new life. They also are willing to trade a map of under space tunnels as a sign of good faith. Before a decision can be made, enemy Vaadwaur forces arrive, but this is a case of having allied ships around, and so the bad guys are wiped out in short order. A choice is given on how to deal with the Vaadwaur refugees to either send them back or give them amnesty... I went with with the amnesty choice cause it seemed like the right thing to do. Eldex won't be happy, but if people don't want to fight, might as well get them out of the way.

From here it was down to the Kinder system (or as I read it the Kimber system), and we're instantly recruited by a Hierarchy ship to act as escort for a few freighters. The Malon attacks, but not in large numbers where it would be a problem to deal with them. Pretty straight forward, keep the freighters in one piece.

The final part of this mission is the Panrsaka system... and this is a bit more difficult, first off you get ambushed by Hirogen, who agree to 'hunt' the Vaadwaur with you instead... seems simple enough. Btu the difficulty comes when you and a handful of Hirogren ships are double waves of Vaadwaur vessels, and while the Hirogren ships that join the battle hold their one, the one that we communicate with is pretty useless. Expect to have to re-spawn once or twice.

This this is the last system patrol bundle of missions... and next time out, it's all our war with Takedown!
